The Saatchi Online all-digital booth at ARTPARIS Grand Palais 2011, taking place in Paris, France from March 31, 2011 – April 3, 2011, will be curated completely by artists, featuring these Top 128 artists as curated by the community for the community and Art Paris 2011.

I like thumbnails on all of the contestens art.
Fantastic, yeahhh fantastic to be aware that who was 6 or 30 on wednesday (since the start of voting period) at 4am (gmt+1) become 159 and 169 at 11…in few hours a revolution on the list…why? No trasparency on vote assignments. Before that happen few votes help to climb the list…after hundred of votes don’t move far than 5 position…why? And how is possible that artwork that was in the middle of the list remain at the same point when the list revolution happen?
Too mistery, form the Saatchi organization no answer!
I auspicate more transparency I feel defrauded as people vote for my artwork. One things is a genuine “battle”, transparent, where my artwork can be appreciated or not. But in this way there are to mistery.
Was a problem created by the server? It’s the voting algorithm? or… or…
I hope was a genuine error or that someone can explain what happens in 6 hours to many artwork. I also ask to have the last 24hours number of voting received as to double check if the server registered any vote or there was a problem.
It can became the last scandal in the art world without any clear explanation of what happens. It is possible and natural to loose…but for the natural way of people decision…not via a ghost hand…virtual (the server dosn’t work) or…real!!!
I am disappointed not to see contemporary works or proposed piece of new works that advance until the ends, there are very few and then they do not advance of up to the select 128, only you select art of 100 behind, nudes, marinas, figurative academic art,photograph, please we are in 2011, it is frustrating, the preferences are too much backward and the chosen mediocrity remains.

Upon nationality…I find that on 7 italian finalist, every one is a different category…only painting have two artwork…but one of them is the winner of the past showdown so it will be useful to exhibit in Paris for Saatchi.
Please from other nation, can check this coincidence?

my piece, Portrait Battle, did better this time, reaching as high as 1500/3777, and so I am better pleased yet still disappointed in the new me v you format, which is SO lacking in meaning. My picture of a belly button beats a picture of feat, but a good tit aces all.
Please outgrow this poorly organized sports based tournament format and rethink it so that those who are not at the top still get some value from the collection of public opinion about their work. Few will get a saatchi hang, but everyone benefits from knowing how their work fits on a scale from 1-10 as decided by anonymous strangers. I bitch because I love….
I Would Like to know, why privilege a few works more than others ?, example, on the same page on having begun, they are promoted an artist who is between the 128 and a work of another artist who is between the 128, no it looks like to them a mockery ? and an advantage that the remainder of the elected 128 them is not promoted by you of the same way? that is called an advantage.
it’s a mistery…i just receive an email from an artist, he forget to be on the award…but i was on the 128…me and other was in head position for 10 days…and in 30 minutes shift down the rank to position 170…and with hundreds of vote…no reach to climb the rank…artist without any website, without facebook, total anonymous…pull up in the 128 list. If Saatchi want to create their list for Paris can inform us before we lost our time to promote!

va beh cosa c’entra vincenzo, questo è un concorso online, di concorsi con giurie ve ne sono una marea. Ha ragione chi scrive che ci vorrebbe comunque una preselezione…ma poi ci vorrebbe trasparenza. cosa che in Saatchi non sanno dove stia di casa.

You know, it just seems to me that the term ART (if it even still exists) results in one big feisty competition on this site. It just seems to be the case that the most people who copy and paste the same message over and over again to some stranger who has uploaded some new work to get their instant attention and gets the most votes shall then progress onto the ‘Top 128′ list. Now in my view (not sure about others) that to my mind is not sharing your creativity; no instead your putting propaganda in front rather than peoples TRUE, PROPER appreciation of the piece you have submitted for the competition. And when you give them the option to vote for you, I feel they have no choice but to say yeah okay, I will do. They would’nt want to let you down would they? What a disgrace, this really does shit on what art should really be about! And when you don’t win that ferocious dog – eat – dog competition, your not even on a list that are congratulating those who put in all their effort, determination and constant emailing to people to muster those ‘every little helps’ votes! It’s not art, it’s pure politics.
I also found that I lost the patience to even give messages to people in the end, it got quite boring to be honest. Yeah its alright a short while, but then you have other things to think about in your life. Why not cut the days to 10, that way you’ve got less time trying to fight and barge past other peoples entries, because I can tell you, 15 days is a lot to get to a 128 or below mark, besides you take into consideration those days that you don’t have time to send messages to people saying “can you vote for my piece, that would be fantastic, oh here’s my link:”.
As for the selection of work, yes they are really fantastic and so full of detail, but it’s the same all the time, is there any extravagant perhaps ‘alternative’ pieces that don’t recieve much regard? It makes the masterpieces seem as they tower or mock the ones that have a little voice in this art community. Can we please stamp out the mediocre, super/photo realistic, bourgeois,conventional, academic art that seems to have plagued this site. If that’s the case, then I best not try and upload anything that goes under ‘Computer art’, because I know that it won’t stand a chance against a magnificent painting that’s full of incy – wincy detail that already has the most views or the most outstanding comments and that’s going to win either way, so really why do I bother. It makes me and other fellow true, forward thinking, out – of – the box artists on this site look crap and insignificant! Please, its 2011, not the Great Masters period! It really is frustrating. I may or I may not do the next Showdown, I will see how I feel.

I would say congratulations to the top 128… but, I just say that: I was 1 out of 3777 for the first 9 days with my work titled “Shoes”, later in two days I lost only five positions and suddenly on March 15 in few hours I’ve been classified 153 and that remained my positions till the end with hundreds of votes who I’m sure… and I also became from AL, United States, (while I’m still sure to be italian) the day The Saatchi changed the graphic of the pages… that’s sound really strange and it’s not serious in front of the online world… I’m very disgusted about…
so friends artist who got the qualification, you should ask to yourself how much to be proud of yourself or better try to defend in some way the good name of the art… and I dont think to have to suggest how… good luck everybody..! Tony Palazzo actor director photographer
In my first post I just refer to Tony Palazzo ranking…how is possible that in few hours 150 artwork was climb the rank? With many of artwork behind Tony only was pushed down ten position? It’s a mistery!
This is the letter I received from the Saatchi to the one I sent to explain my doubts… I have no words… but, I guess all of you can judge “accumulating all the variables…”:
I thought the ranking was related to how many votes you have…
Dear Tony,
This is a ranking system. That number represents your ranking against all other
entries. The higher the number is, the better. The system changes the ranking
number and this is not related to how many votes you have, It represents your
standing, accumulating all the variables and can change quite quickly.

it’s a real scandal. Rules are clear, in the general description: “invites eligible artists to enter their works for other Saatchi Online members to vote on”. Article #6 refer only to “preliminary round public voting”…”Public voting for the final voting for Saatchi Online ARTPARIS”…
No refer to “all the variable”…exluding of course the human variable…or the human touch to change artist ranking.
I also receive, before the rank revolution where we was defraud, two email from support in Saatchi Online
a) “We do not provide users with the number of votes, as that is confidential information prior to the Final Voting stage. Please view your ranking throughout the day as it changes quite often. If you make it to the Top 16, we will show the bracket on the SHOWDOWN homepage”
b) “Right now we are not yet in Final Voting. Voting has just begun, so it’s kind of a free for all based on rankings. So it will be after March 20th before you can see the number of votes in real time on the Bracket page.
Any visitor to the site can rate and vote for artworks in SHOWDOWN once they register on Saatchi Online. All visitors are free to vote on all artworks once per round. Although visitors can vote for as many artworks that have been entered as they like, to prevent multiple voting by one person for one work, only one vote per individual artwork will be accepted from each visitor per round. To vote, one must either go to http://www.saatchionline.com/showdown or, in the case of voting for a specific artist’s entry, go directly to the artist’s profile page.”

In any case I write what happens to italian newspaper, art desk, just describing what happens, without any consideration, leave to journalist to write about with their interpretation of facts!
