WHY THE SHOWDOWN VOTING DID NOT STOP AT 8:00?
OR THE RESULTS ARE MADE UP??
SHAME.
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR MY WORK ‘VALERIE’.
THE VOTING FOR THE PREVIOUS SHOWDOWN ROUND HAD TO STOP AT 07:59 (UK TIME) BUT IT DID STOP AT 08:02 (UK TIME).
MY AND MY OPPONENT’S VOTES WERE AS FOLLOWS:
08:00 (UK TIME): 884 VOTES FOR ME AND 882 VOTES FOR MY OPPONENT.
08:02 (UK TIME): 884 VOTES FOR ME AND 884 VOTES FOR MY OPPONENT.
SEVEN MINUTES AFTER THE ‘WINNER’ WAS DECLARED, AT 08:09 (UK TIME), THE ‘WINNING’ 885TH VOTE WAS ADDED TO MY OPPONENT’S SCORE.
AFTER THE END OF THE SHOW I GOT TENS OF MESSAGES FROM PEOPLE EXPRESSING THEIR FURY AND INDIGNATION, SAYING THAT WHAT HAPPENED WAS EXTREMELY NASTY AND UNFAIR AND OBVIOUSLY DONE ON PURPOSE.
I CONTACTED SAATCHI ONLINE VIA EMAIL IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED AND WHY.
I GOT NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER.
TO ME THE SAATCHI SHOWDOWN IS NO LONGER ABOUT DISPLAYING, ENJOYING AND APPRECIATING ART AND, AS AN ARTIST, I FEEL THAT SAATCHI ONLINE IS NO LONGER AN ATTRACTIVE PLACE I WOULD WILLINGLY VISIT IN THE FUTURE.

Thank you for your post and for your participation in Showdown. We completely understand your frustration as the race was extremely close. When the transition occurred between voting and the new round, it was set by a trigger on our server that is based on the countdown clock that you see on the homepage. When that clock hits 0, the new round begins. It was at that time that votes were frozen as you see it on the bracket now.
Please know that we still plan to highlight many of the artists who made it to the top round in order to give them as much exposure as possible, which is very much deserved. We want SHOWDOWN to also be a showcase for a selection of the most incredible art on Saatchi Online. Your entry, Iliana, in my opinion is one of the best entries we had in the competition and I hope we will see your work in future competitions.
