Each week, we showcase an emerging artist from around the world who is already garnering attention for their work. Taking inspiration from the Saatchi Gallery’s 25-year history of discovering new talent, ‘One To Watch’ presents some of the most exciting artists on Saatchi Online helping collectors to identify strong emerging talent.
This week’s One to Watch featured artist is Paula Baader
Paula Baader’s paintings begin as fully rendered sketches in her head, and very quickly she translates these into works on canvas. Among her favourite subjects are people’s rooms, artists’ studios and places which evoke strong memories for her. Blurred landscapes, perhaps a rainy atmosphere, create a sense of looking out of the window through gauzy curtains or snow falling. Paula is currently finishing her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Münster. She has just won a place to do her MFA at Chelsea College of Art & Design in London, starting this autumn. Paula was the winner of our recent “In Living Colour” Showdown.
This stunning large-scale painting entitled ritas winter garden (67 x 51 inches / 170 x 150cm) is $2600.
This piece, “Sumis Workshop” ($2,500) was the 1st place winner of In Living Color Showdown and is currently displayed at the Saatchi Gallery, London.
