This week we were inspired by all things fashion, form and figures. With Fashion Week in full swing in NYC and Paris, London and Milan’s fashion weeks around the corner, we’ve got our eyes on the fashion world. Our “Clothed” collection is influenced by materials and textiles. Of course for those of you who find getting dressed in the morning a frustrating experience, our “Nothing To Wear” collection (aka Nudes) is perfect for you birthday-suit aficionados.
Taking Oscar Wilde’s quote “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art” to heart for our “Clothed” collection, we are combining the best of both worlds. We were inspired by where fashion and art merge with styles by Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Nick Cave and more.
Our “Nothing to Wear Collection” is based on the classic nude which has been a source of inspiration for artists since the advent of art. Some of the most beautiful lounging “odalisque”-style paintings were banned because they were in fact paintings of or about prostitutes. Most famous for these scandalous nudes were by Edouard Manet with his painting Olympia and The Luncheon on the Grass (Le déjeuner sur l’herbe). He managed to update these classical nude compositions to reflect the social climate of the day.
It doesn’t matter if you are headed to the runway or staying in for the evening, these great works highlight the power of the human form. Whether you like your bodies wrapped or a la cart, these collections are sure to turn some eyes. Take a peep and tell us which collection do you prefer?
